The yellow route on the map to the right marks the diversion from the main itinary.

North Coast 500, according to the PR Scotland's answer to America's Route 66, forms a loop around the northern Highlands from Inverness to John O’Groats in the north-east, along the rocky shore of the north and down the deeply indented west coast to Applecross. The itineray was designed by a non-profit organisation established by Prince Charles to promote the parts of the Highlands that he apparently is hugely fond of.

How cool is this?

This is the single track road leading to The Brochs from the North Coast 500

We are not on the main itinary but The Scotsman's guide "Everything you need to know about Scotland's North Coast 500 road trip" nevertheless features The Brochs as the place to stay in Wester Ross.
